We’ve just released version 5.2.4 of BackupAssist.
This is a maintenance release fixing issues discovered by several of our customers running RSync and File Replication backups, so you should upgrade to 5.2.4 if you are experiencing issues with those engines.
We’ve also added two new options for Rsync jobs. You can now:
- Limit the data transfer rate used, which would be useful if you need to use your Internet connection while performing an Rsync backup. By default Rsync will attempt to use as much bandwith as it can.
- Limit the total amount of data transferred to make sure you don’t get hit with a massive ISP bill if your backups are larger than expected.
These options are located under “Data transfer options” in the “Rsync options” for the job.
There are a couple of other minor enhancements too, so check our history page here for further details.

The new part in the report is great. Having the ability to see how much space is being used on the target server is great. And the ability to limit the data transfered is a great peice of mind.
All that is needed now is a way to see how much data has been transfered for a number of jobs..
